There is no denying the colossal trap takeover that has swept the Internet in the last few months. Of course, this isn’t the same type of “real trap” that resonates with Southern hip-hop artists like T.I. and Jeezy, and the music connoisseurs have made that distinction very clear. Instead, this “trapstyle” that dance music has come to embrace and interweave into its culture is a different breed altogether. Long buildups and heavy drops are characteristic to the genre, making it a new fan-favorite at festivals and concerts. One group in recent spotlight is LOUDPVCK.
The two producers Kenny Beats & Ryan Marks are both Berkley graduates, natives originally of Los Angeles and New York. They’ve earned playtime on Diplo’s Diplo & Friends BBC Radio 1 show, as well as support from Flosstradamus, Skrillex, and Baauer. In their recent Adventure Club remix, they’ve transformed the original dubstep tune “Retro City” into a certifiable crowd-killer. Grab it for free via Facebook.
