Following a release break in the last few months of last year, Axwell’s Axtone Records imprint is back with their first release of 2013 – the (label) debut single from Belgian duo and brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The pair are no strangers to Axtone, having previously remixed “Leave The World Behind,” David Tort’s “One Look,” and many more, maintaining a close relationship with the Swedish label head and the entire “mafia” in general. Though “Wakanda” may come as a surprise to fans of the label who have fallen in love with its well-picked progressive anthems in the past, anyone who has seen SHM perform recently has experienced this track first hand. Tribal drums, African chants, and samples from the Black Panther comic series work together to make “Wakanda” (the made-up country in the comics) a massive big room weapon. Grab it on Beatport a week early at the link below. Also, make sure to check out our interview with the boys last year.
After a few months of radio silence following the release of his celestial remix of Rihanna’s “Loveeeeeee Song,” New York producer Jesse Taylor, aka YUME, is back with a captivating new original titled “Admire.” As with his other productions, YUME manages to create a unique, spacious dreamscape using a combination of various atmospheric elements. Slowly building in volume, the subtle introduction eventually leads to a dramatic explosion of melodic synths utilizing a powerful chord progression. At this point, any doubts are expelled. Coupled with some very tasteful percussion, “Admire” sums up to be a very moving and ethereal track. Make sure to show Jesse some love and say thanks for the free download, which you can grab below.
Well now, seems like we have a little bit of an anomaly on our hands. Carnage and Borgore get together on a track and it doesn’t even moderately relate to trap or dubstep? Interesting. Carnage, who recently surged in popularity due to his coined “Festival Trap” remixes, took to social media a few weeks ago to express his opinion on the matter of genres and music in general. The problem with producing something that people like is that they might expect that same sound every time, but you can bet that musicians don’t want to operate like that.
For those who didn’t know, Carnage made house music long before this whole trap thing took off, and he’s made it clear that he plans to hone in on the genre once again in an attempt to “bring back real rave music.” Like it or not, “Incredible” is the first taste. When two young and talented producers collaborate, one can expect greatness, and that’s exactly what we have here. Fully supported by names like Porter Robinson, Avicii and Tiesto, “Incredible” has already proven effective in stadium and club settings. Grab a copy below on Beatport via Spinnin Records.
While touring recently throughout the states, Morten Breum was kind enough to chat with us a little bit about Marvin Gaye, 2Pac, In-N-Out Burger, trap music, his recent move to Los Angeles and much more. The Danish producer has been hard at work both producing and DJing in the top clubs across the globe alongside names like Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, David Guetta, and more. In the process, he’s picked up deals from Pepsi and Red Bull, and his career continues to show tremendous momentum as he proceeds into the new year. Read the full interview after the jump.
James Edward Jacob, better known for his stage name Jakwob, is certainly no newcomer to the music world. Becoming involved with with instruments at the young age of 10 laid the groundwork for what would become a very promising career as a producer and DJ, which drastically took off after releasing his popular remix of the fan favorite Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed,” receiving millions of plays and counting. In a recent collaborative effort, Jakwob paired with singer and fellow Londoner Maiday, whose vocals act as the backbone of the chilling vibe presented in “Fade,” combining perfectly with subtle piano chords in the background. Set for release March 18th via Boom Ting Recordings, the EP package will feature a vocal and instrumental version, along with remixes from Wilkinson and Etherwood. Pre-order the album on iTunes below.
If you were a fan of Imanos‘ Love Trap Vol. 1 mix, then we’ve got good news for you — he’s back. It seems that Jay Z’s Life + Times magazine liked LT so much, they asked the Vancouver producer for an all new exclusive mixtape, Trapped In Brooklyn. Imanos also revealed that his productions recently caught the attention of one of the best in the game, Diplo, mentioning that there was a Mad Decent EP in the works along with a collaboration amongst the two. Talk about accomplishments, right? Very excited to hear these future releases, and happy that he is getting the recognition he deserves. Enjoy this amazing collection of tracks, and be on the lookout for the second volume of Love Trap which will drop in the near future. Grab the free download of Trapped In Brooklyn below.

Returning after their sweeping success with their remix of Wild Belle’s “It’s Too Late,” the London duo of Ollie and James give Bondax’s newest single “Gold” (which is available for purchase now on iTunes) the Snakehips touch. After announcing new material last night, we were graced with this gem just a few hours ago. Consistent with other works, their remix of “Gold” is easy listening at its finest. If there was a head bob certification process for tracks, this one would definitely make the cut. Take it to the car, roll down your windows and turn up the volume.
