The past few weeks have been hectic, and one thing has once again been affirmed, moving sucks. Anyway, figured we’d double up The Goods for you guys this time around to make up for it. There has been far too much good music floating around lately, and these tracks are just a little taste. We also decided to include more hip hop and indie tunes this time around, so hope you guys don’t mind. Even if those genres aren’t really your jam, you might still find some favorable aspects about these songs. Lastly, we decided to stop using NSFW pictures for The Goods because a few people complained about not being able to use the site at work. It’s not going to be easy without that eye candy, but we can do it. Enjoy!
Since his 2011 EP Many Faces Out Of Focus, Stuart Howard (aka Lapalux) has continued to release remixes and other EPs, but we have yet to see a full length LP from him. That’s all going to change very soon. His first album titled Nostalchic is set for release March 2013 on Brainfeeder, the exalted record label from none other than Flying Lotus. After hearing the first single, I can honestly say that I am looking forward to buying it. “Guuurl” carries a deep, emotional tone through a balance of dreamy synths and soulful vocals, creating a very pleasant listening experience. Lapalux is a unique talent, and it’s a good thing that FlyLo sees that.
It’s been fun following Baauer‘s progress on his new EP via Facebook, and the good news is that it’s almost finished. The LuckyMe Records release will feature a handful of tracks, including “Slip” which we caught a glimpse of when Diplo played in on his BBC 1Xtra show. Brooklyn’s finest does not disappoint. The centerpiece of the track is a wild, clanky, and haunting bell sound, which is also accompanied by an onslaught of fierce drums. The result is a devastating instrumental, begging to be lyricized by some of today’s top rappers. Don’t be surprised if/when it happens. Look for the release of Baauer’s EP soon.
Just two weeks after releasing “BasedWorld,” his first production of 2013, Canada’s Ryan Hemsworth unveils a brand new track as a part of the recent 7-track Friends of Friends Compilation. Other featured names include DJAO, Evenings, Pcoat, Dreams, Octa Octa and Kid Smpl, collectively offering aspects of the “entire electronic soundscape with elements of Wintery vibes to gear up for the season.” While many of Ryan’s productions use catchy vocals, “An Overture Might Help Me Stop Thinking About You” is a simple instrumental that carries a deep emotional vibe. One thing’s for sure, this year will be truly monumental for Ryan Hemsworth.

Tracks from Flux Pavilion‘s upcoming Blow The Roof EP have been slowly unraveling over the last few weeks, giving us a taste of what we can come to expect from the newest installation of the UK producer. In celebration (and excitement) of the coming release, Josh decided to give away “OneTwoThree (Make Your Body Wanna),” one of the many tracks that will be included in the January 28th release. Utilizing many of his signature sounds, Flux shows us what his interpretation of trap sounds like, while leaving headroom for skeptics of the genre who can still appreciate the bass-heavy breakdowns and drops. We can’t wait to hear what the rest of the EP has in store. Grab the free download of “OneTwoThree” below.
Usually when I see the name heRobust come up, I immediately reference the trap genre because of the popularity his “BUSTED” tracks carry in that area. However, the title track of his recent OG Status EP begs to differ, utilizing more of the widespread characteristics that future funk has to offer. The EP showcases a variety of diversely produced tracks, and though “OG Status” is my favorite, they all have something unique to offer. You’ll find yourself reciting the vocals repeatedly throughout the day, but don’t say you weren’t warned. Hayden continues to prove his admirable abilities to produce, and there is no doubt that he will continue to succeed exponentially. Grab the free download below.
