Los Angeles producer Kill Paris has shown a certain trend in most of his tracks. If you listen, you’ll hear a similar electro bassline that functions as a centerpiece for defining his sound. It is so well done, but for a long time I wondered if I’d ever hear anything completely different from him. As he releases more tracks, I care less and less, viewing his style more like an independent genre instead. With his latest free release titled “I Love You Lana Del Ray (Where I Left My Heart),” he pays homage to one of his most loved artists, Lana herself. Romantic melodies combine with gritty, glitchy goodage in what seems to be an oxymoronic pairing of mellow and dirty. We’re rootin’ for ya’ KP. Grab the free download below.

After Zedd announced a remix competition for “Clarity,” producers all over were ecstatic to have a chance to recreate their own version of what was arguably the most popular track (and with the best vocals) of his album. The contest is still open for submissions, but our favorite so far has been from the Netherlands’ 20-year-old production duo Vicetone who have been gaining much-deserved recognition for their productions. The mixing in this track is top-notch, as the vocals sit perfectly on top of the anthemic, progressive melodies conjured by the two. Grab the free download below.

A few days ago, the official remix package for Ellie Goulding’s recent “Figure 8″ single was released, and it contains this little massive gem. Looking back over time, I realize that Xilent has never really disappointed me. That certainly doesn’t come easy, but his skills and creativity seem to continue flowing freely. In this remix (and many others), the Polish producer utilizes the heavy sidechaining techniques that we’ve come to love from his and Seven Lions’ tracks. Ellie’s vocals are perfect in the quieter sections, and are expertly used during the builds. I’d expect nothing less from Xilent, and he proves triumphant.

Since its release last month, Gemini‘s Mercury EP has been appearing on charts worldwide and we are beginning to see more official remixes slowly roll out, starting with the KillSonik’s heavy electro house take on “Robots,” previewed on SoundCloud last week. This morning, Thomas divulged that a Chrome Sparks remix was imminent and here we are, grateful and satisfied. While more mellow and relaxing than the other variations, this production obviously rubbed Gemini the right way because he decided to re-record his own special vocals just for this mix. The final outcome is magical. This is another one of those moments when I can’t stress enough how important it is to listen to the music on this site with a decent set of speakers. If you’re one of those people that only uses iPod earbuds or a laptop, realize that you are hearing the music in a way that it wasn’t meant to be heard. Just a little food for thought.

Trying to count the number of “Satisfaction” remixes to date would not only be tedious, but painful. Some are decent, most are awful, and a few are…well, like this one. RL Grime (aka Clockwork, aka Henry Steinway) not only took on the task, but was rewarded an official release with label giants Ultra Records. Since there was a premature ripped version floating around previously, there’s a good chance you’ve heard this track. Now, you get the pleasure of purchasing it in full quality form. The kicks hit hard and the drop is likely RL Grime’s most “effective” since his collaboration remix of “Mercy,” if you get my drift. Grab it on Beatport below.

At first glance, Montreal producer Kaytra Laboom (Kaytranada) may seem difficult to read. Mowing over his SoundCloud tracks, you’ll notice that his uploads have been weaving through genres like an angry drunk driver. While doing so, you’ll also notice that every single song is jaw-dropping (and that the frequency of uploads are tough to keep up with, but who’s complaining?). From the experimental stuff to the hip-hop to the trap and everything in between, Kaytranada does not disappoint. The most recent example is his dramatic, yet soothing remix of Missy Elliot’s “Sock It 2 Me,” a perfectly polished and authoritative presentation of originality. Kaytra says, “If it’s louder than any of your mp3′s then I’m sorry, I love distortion.” In other good news, this track is offered as a free download. Grab it below.
