Brian Transeau, known otherwise as BT, immersed himself in music since childhood, receiving classical training at the Washington Conservatory of Music and at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Today, he is a Grammy-nominated producer, composer, singer, songwriter, technologist and multi-instrumentalist with an exhaustive list of accomplishments. He is often credited as having helped pioneer the trance genre, composing and producing for artists such as Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk in the past. Though his role as a dance music producer is well-defined, Brian has also worked as a film composer, writing music for The Fast and the Furious and Monster, along with movie scores for Go, Driven, Stealth and many more. He is also in the Guinness Book of World Records for using the largest number of vocal edits in his song “Somnambulist (Simply Being Loved).”
BT’s relationship with technology defines his unique and innovative methodology and skill set. His software development company Sonik Architects was responsible for creating the plug-in Stutter Edit, which is now used by top artists around the world. In 2010, Brian announced his partnership with the company iZotope, providing him with great resources to assist with future cutting-edge product development.
The coming release of A Song Across Wires marks BT’s ninth studio album, featuring collaborations with Fractal, JES, Adam K, Au5, tyDi, Tritonal, ARTY and others. Raw Goodage had the pleasure of sitting down with Brian at SBE and Insomniac’s Create Nightclub last weekend before his set. It was easily one of the most enriching conversations we’ve taken part of, but it was more fulfilling to simply listen. His responses were so detailed and specified that we only asked the best bunch, making it our favorite interview to date. Find out what he had to say after the jump!

One track was all it took for Santa Barbara’s Jeff Montalvo to blow the roof off of dance music’s already rock solid foundation. Though a metal drummer at heart, Jeff found it difficult to look back after picking up his first copy of FL Studio, giving him the opportunity to produce symphonic masterpieces by himself. After entering a remix competition for the prestigious trio Above & Beyond’s “You Got To Go” under the moniker Seven Lions, he was surely ill-prepared for the reaction he would receive worldwide. The jaw-dropping production swept the masses off their feet, not only winning the contest, but topping Beatport’s Dubstep charts for weeks, second only to Skrillex’s remix of “Levels.”
Since then, Seven Lions has shared the stage with giants, and has released EPs on labels like OWSLA and Viper Recordings. Recently, dubstep trio Krewella announced their Get Wet Tour, which will feature support from Candyland and Seven Lions himself. We had a chance to sit down with him at Sutra last week when he stopped by Orange County for the night, where he went on to play an amazing set for an excited crowd. Find out what he had to say after the jump!

More than a decade ago, less than a hundred family and friends of the Do LaB got together to create an experience unlike any other. Equipped with Christmas lights, generators, some crates of vinyl and a positive attitude, it was soon made evident that they were onto something special, giving birth to what we know as Lightning In A Bottle. This year, more than 18,000 attendees gathered at a new venue in Temecula, CA at Lake Skinner for a weekend of incredible music, breathtaking art installations, delicious organic food, yoga, and good vibes.
LIB is unlike any other festival or event you may have experienced, which is probably why the Do LaB refer to it as more of an adventure. Utilizing a 24-hour “Choose Your Adventure” theme and schedule, the festival always offers something to do. Find out about our adventure after the jump!
As bright blue skies welcome the summer season back to California, the anticipation for Lightning In A Bottle 2013 grows. The Do LaB’s Lightning In A Bottle festival has been one of the most talked about productions over the last few years, creating unique experiences for attendees with their unparalleled and renowned art installations, performances, and spiritual workshops. While taking place near Irvine Lake in the past, LIB finds a new home this year at Lake Skinner County Park in Temecula, CA with new dates from July 11 to July 15. Most importantly, the lineup this year is game changing for many reasons. There are so many names that you may not have heard of, but they are all equally amazing, including the larger tycoons like Rusko, GRiZ, and Purity Ring (who were recently added). Get out there, camp with your friends, and make a few more lifelong memories with us this Summer. See you there!
In the words of one of the The Do LaB’s event creation visionaries,
“Our goal with the music is to create a positive and uplifting experience, with a good balance of beautiful melodic music and good old party music. After 4 months of in depth research and a lot of listening we tried to cover as many genres as possible that we feel fit the vibe that we’re trying to create with Lightning in a Bottle.”- Jesse Flemming, Co-Founder/Curator, The Do LaB.

Vancouver’s Imanos returns with yet another rambunctious trap mix, but this one is quite different from Love Trap or Trapped In Brooklyn. Though premiered once again through Jay Z’s Life + Times, Trap Nation has a tracklist that can help draw one simple correlation: they are all Roc Nation artists. If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard any of these remixes prior to this week, it’s because they are exclusive, unique productions coordinated especially for this release. So where does Imanos come in? He didn’t just just mix the tracks; he executive produced the entire thing, assuming responsibility for selecting producers that he firmly believed in. The opening rework of “Dirt Off Your Shoulders” from Brillz & Z-Trip was an instant favorite, winning our top spot right alongside hometown homies Slander with their remix of “Awooga.” Turn up!
